Re: Margin of Safety Calculator for MSN Money

You can retype in the same ticker and click enter or you can GO to each data page and find the cell that imports data into that particular page. Usually under the Title Cell at the far left. For example on the ROIC page the Import data cell says "Investment Returns %" in it. Go to Data> Import External Data>Data Range Properties> and change the Refresh to refresh more opften for you. Only thing, is that you have to do this for all the Data Sheets. This includes the ROIC Sheet, Quote, Price Ratios, etc.

Hope that helps.

Re: Margin of Safety Calculator for MSN Money

Just wanted to say thanks to whoever made this worksheet! it works great. I was using a spreadsheet that I had made and entering in all the numbers by hand takes a lot longer than this ;p

Invalid Web Query

This happened after I had been using the other versions for awhile. I used each of them a lot and then they had trouble finding the data for some of the cells. I can still use it but some of the cells don't work and I have to enter the data manually. Last time I waited a few days and then it started to work, again.

I keep getting the Invalid Web Query error Doc gets. My run speed looks fine and I haven't been able to get this new version to work for weeks. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?

Try to download the spreadsheet again. Maybe the cells or formlulas was tanpered with accidently.

Re: Margin of Safety Calculator for MSN Money

I have had the same problem from time to time. Closing the spreadsheet and reloading the original has worked for me.

I have tried everything I know to check. I reloaded the spreadsheet, downloaded a new version. I am on a wireless connection, would that interfere?

Now the spreadsheet did work about a month ago so I know it works, but I can't figure out what has changed. Is there a way I can debug and see where the spreadsheet is bombing out causing the 'Invalid Web Query' error?

Re: Margin of Safety Calculator for MSN Money

hey..a question for those having troubles? is it just one or two stocks or all of them?

The spreadsheet was working fine for me, and then all of a sudden it quit. I tried re-downloading the file, etc. and it still wouldn't work. I went over to my other computer and downloaded the same file and its working fine, for now.

Im thinking the problem for some might be the way excel auto saves/recovers or if it stores the information in a cache on your hard drive somewhere and that becomes corrupt. Im just guessing here... Ill see if I can find anything else out.

Try using the spreadsheet on a different computer for now.

Re: Margin of Safety Calculator for MSN Money

This fixed the "Invalid Web Query" bug for me... let me know if this works for anyone else.

go to:

C:\Documents and Settings\Max\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Make sure you have hidden files and folders set to visible, and obviously replace "Max" with "Your user name"

Select all. Then hit delete. If it asks you if you want to delete your cookies you can say no.

This worked for me, Im using XP SP2 and Office 07.
