Re: Margin of Safety Calculator for MSN Money

I think there is something wrong with the Scenario #2 calculations. I put in the same calculations for Scenario #1 & #2, but it comes out with two different numbers? The only difference seems to be Scenario #1 nubmers are coming off of a formula, and Scenario #2 numbers are hard coded.

Any ideas? Justin? Anyone?

Re: Margin of Safety Calculator for MSN Money

You might want to try ROI 5 year Average >= 15
Net profit 5 year Average = 15
5 year Revenue Growth >=15
Debt to ratio <= 0.50
EPS growth next 5 years >=15
This should give you about 30 to 40 stocks

Re: Margin of Safety Calculator for MSN Money

Hello! I'm new to all this - just read Phil's book twice and excited about working with all of you to put it to good use!

I've been playing around with this great-looking Excel page, but I'm having troubles! When I plug-in a stock symbol, I get an error message that says "Unable to open moneycentral.msn.co/.... Cannot locate the Internet server or proxy server."

Any suggestions? I know my internet connection is just fine. Thanks in advance!

Rounding for show. For your example, there are no decimals showing on the analyst 5yr Growth Rate and p/e's on the main page, but if you go to the estimates sheet, you will see a slightly different #. In fact, if you enter your own growth #'s in scenario 2 (ie growth of 24.92%) it will snap to 25 (but still use your 24.92 for the calculation). If you click on the cells in scenario 2 after you change them and add a decimal it will reflect the changes in the formula box.

Re: Margin of Safety Calculator for MSN Money

Thanks for fielding that one for me yostyid!

I just came across this question and was struggling to find the answer myself! Is there a way we can make the numbers match exactly, or is that a limitation using an excel spreadsheet to do what we do?
