Re: Automatic MOS Calculator & Watchlist for Microsoft Excel (Windows)

I just downloaded the spreadsheet and whenever I try to add a stock to my watchlist it says that it is already full and the stock was not added. I haven't added anything to the list. How can it be full?

Thanks!

Ah! I added one manually to the list and after that it works great.

Thanks!

Re: Automatic MOS Calculator & Watchlist for Microsoft Excel (Windows)

Hi Justin,

If you need another development resource, I'd be happy to help out and contribute some time to the spreadsheet. I'm not that familiar with excel web queries, though, and I suppose there's no documentation for the tool, but can you refer me to any "quickstart" links that would help get me up to speed?

Thanks,

Gordon

Re: Automatic MOS Calculator & Watchlist for Microsoft Excel (Windows)

Thanks for your willingness to assist with the project, it is much appreciated.

I don't have any links to pages I could recommend as a good excel material, and certainly wouldn't wish a "crash course" on it to anyone lol. But it does make me wonder if maybe a google search on a particular error the spreadsheet throws might be able to yield some clues as to how to interpret the error and adjust for it.

We shouldn't be too far away from a more long-term solution to steering clear of these more common errors.

Re: Automatic MOS Calculator & Watchlist for Microsoft Excel (Windows)

Hi, just downloaded version 3.03a, when I key in ebay, the MOS is $3.99. That figure is not correct.

For both the 3.02a & 3.03a versions, the dates do not appear and I get #value! for all except for 2006.

Did I do something wrongly? Does anyone else have the same problem?

Cheers, huhtoo

Re: Automatic MOS Calculator & Watchlist for Microsoft Excel (Windows)

Justin,

I downloaded the spreadsheet on my home computer and put in a lot of symbols into the watchlist. Then I hit the update button. At first everything was going great. It was updating the majority of them. Then after about 40-50 records it stopped updating them. This was last night.

I ran the update from home again in the morning just for the ones that wouldn't update. None of them updated again. I emailed the spreadsheet to my work computer and once I got to work I ran the update for the remaining ones that did not update. It started updating without a problem. It updated about 50-60 more records and then it stopped. Now it won't update anymore.

Both times after the watchlist stopped updating, even if I went to the rule 1 tab to enter a symbol it would not finish completely. It would show the yellow connected cell.

Any ideas?

THanks!

Re: Automatic MOS Calculator & Watchlist for Microsoft Excel (Windows)

Hi,

I have been having the same problem with the last several versions. 302, 303, and 303a. I am getting 5 failures out of 12 queries with a error 1004 Mos-Calculator error. I also have the old advfn103 which still works fine but slow. The interesting thing is that at work everything updates with no errors. I run the same OS (Win XP office 2003), both machines have norton loaded. I've been doing all my updates at work then bringing it home for furthter research. Hope some of this info helps solve the errors. This has been a fantastic time saver on researching stocks.

Michael

Re: Automatic MOS Calculator & Watchlist for Microsoft Excel (Windows)

Since both of us are having our spreadsheets work better at work than at home...could it have anything to do with the work have a faster/more reliable internet connection than at home? Maybe at home the requests are timming out.

Don't most business DSL lines have a guaranteed minimum transfer rate wheras most residential is you get what you can get with no guarantees?

Thanks!

Re: Automatic MOS Calculator & Watchlist for Microsoft Excel (Windows)

jkruer01,

I was thinking the same thing. I do have high speed at home but it's been running alittle slower lately. My advfn103 auto sheet is running to just fine but it gathers the data really slow. You might be on to something.
