Help with research AAUK

I'm trying to research AAUK on Advfn. When looking for current EPS, trailing twelve months, the most current numbers are up until 12/06? I wonder why this is?

Is Advfn a good site for stock research or is there someplace better? Thanks!

Have a look at stock2own.com This is a nice quick way of establishing growth rates so you know if the company in question is worthy of further research.

I suggest trying 2.39 as per MSN Finance.

I checked AAUK on stock2own. It does give a lot of the numbers there easily and is a good resource. I bookmarked it for future use. Thanks bovverd.

Because investing in the stock market is new to me, I will continue to check out companies with Advfn and find data on the annual company reports. I made myself a simple chart with the growth rates I need to find and write in the numbers. Its a good learning for me to remember the terminology and what it means.

I checked my data against whats listed at stock2own. They seem to have very different numbers for EPS. Stock2own 10 years EPS is all about 2x as much as what I found on Advfn?

stock2own current EPS for AAUK $4.52
advfn current EPS $2.26

Email Alex at Stock2own and ask him how the system generates the numbers and he will reply quite promptly and explain in detail. I do believe the stock2own site uses conservative numbers but it does have a facility to amend to your own if you do not agree so you can establish your own mos and sticker.

Yes, I will use that number. I thought maybe I'm not looking in the right place Advfn. Thanks!

The stock has been going down a lot. Dropped more today. Its numbers would disqualify it as a R1 company but seems pretty good to me. I'm looking to get some exposure in mining, gold and metals.

I find if the companies that have meaning for me dont have good enough numbers to qualify as a Rule 1 company I'll attempt to do things in reverse ie find some great companies with fantastic numbers and then go and establish meaning and understanding of the business.

Im based in the UK so very few US based companies had meaning to me a few months ago but Ive been studying them since and understand them more now.

Gentlemen, and this is the difference between Warren Buffett and us.

When Buffett doesn't find the companies he wants at the right price he waits until the opportunity arises. We mere mortals tend to be on the impatient side and force our capital to be allocated regardless...

My 'go find good numbers' comment was referring to growth rates. If the guy is looking at a company which has meaning but he isnt seeing the right growth rates then go and find a company which has'.

BTW NPG - Would you consider Tescos to be a UK Rule 1 candidate ?

Unfortunately I don't think in terms of 'Rule1'. I actually don't like it when people use it as a term. Why not call things what they are? Imagine you'd interview the chairman of the Bank of England and ask him whether he thinks that X is a Rule 1 company, you are more likely to sound like Ali-G than a savvy investor ;)

To me Tesco looks like a good investment at the right price. So is Lloyds bank BTW. Both of them are well run organisations with a great track record.
