Apache Corporation (APA)

Apache Corporation is an independent energy company that explores for, develops and produces natural gas, crude oil and natural gas liquids. In North America, the Company's exploration and production interests are focused in the Gulf of Mexico, the Gulf Coast, East Texas, the Permian Basin, the Anadarko Basin and the Western Sedimentary Basin of Canada. It has interests in seven countries: the United States, Canada, Egypt, Australia, the United Kingdom, China and Argentina. Its segments are the United States, Canada, Egypt, Australia, the North Sea and Other International. The Company also holds interests in many of its United States, Canadian and other international properties through operating subsidiaries, such as Apache Canada Ltd., DEK Energy Company (DEKALB), Apache Energy Limited (AEL), Apache International, Inc. and Apache Overseas, Inc. On April 25, 2006, the Company acquired the Argentine operations of Pioneer Natural Resources Company.

I don't think this company qualifies as a Rule #1 company. The cash flow numbers are terrible. However, Phil says that cash flow numbers are the least important of the Big 5. What do you all think about this company?

I would pass on this. 11 years to pay off debt, EPS went down, and overall they seem to be up and down.
