The physical location of the add-in is automatically hard-coded in the workbook file by EXCEL whenever a workbook is saved.

You should be able to put the add-in anywhere you want -- but you'll need to manually update the links yourself. The whole point of trying to standardize the location is to prevent the need for individuals to update the links. And it does, in most cases.

Not a good way to go. Currently, I can open EXCEL workbooks that use the add-in formulas directly from the Internet, from various websites. I also have workbooks that use the add-in in several different directories on my own computer. Besides, I'm not sure it would even prevent EXCEL from hard-coding the location when the workbook is saved?

Unfortunately, different operating systems, different versions of EXCEL, even different platforms, all operate by their own rules when it comes to add-ins. The add-in is based on only one combination -- because that's all I own and can test.

Hey

Hi, I'm Loy from Columbia, MO. Have been investing in stocks since the mid 90's. Very conservative approach recently and using techniques of Van Tharp.

Currently invested in HD and BBBY with some profit. Watching for new opportunities. I have noticed that Walgreens has started to fall and wondered if we had run the numbers on them recently.

Also love Nike and Starbux. Dell is a sentimental favorite.

Look forward to chatting.

Loy

Welcome! My dad was playing in the '90s, and wishes he knew what we know now. Not familiar with Van Tharp, but whatever works for you!

New here, ran into this site, looking for a calculation for the EPS rank.
Site looks promissing.

Hello from Upstate SC

Hi,
My name is John and I am brand new to ALL of this. I am 45 and way behind the power curve when it comes to investing and retirement savings. Other than a couple thousand that I have in a savings account to get started I have nothing. Mostly because of a bad marriage and poor money management I am starting from scratch. Mainly because of fear caused by ignorance, I have never invested in anything other than my personal home. I have just read Phil Town’s book and now believe I have the confidence to get started.
I welcome any and all advice, and look forward to being a valuable part of this community in the future.
I went to Investools but they want $2000 to join their service. That would take my whole savings and I would not have anything to start with. MSN ands Yahoo don't seem to have the three green/red arrows, or at lease I can't find them. Is there any other service I can subscribe to, which doesn’t cost so much, that has the information?
Thanks in advance for all your help and for this great site.
John

Hello and welcome to the forums I think you'll come to find that being totally new will actually work in your favor. Many have to 'unlearn' their bad habits before they can learn these methods. Being totally new, you've just cut your work in half!

You can find the red/green arrows at businessweek.com. The following is a quote from another thread in a similar topic.

Another thing you can do is download the MSN spreadsheet (under Big Five & Margin of Safety Calculators), enter your symbol and then click on the Business Week Chart hyperlink inside of the spreadsheet.
You can find that thread here: http://www.roicommunity.com/forum/technical-analysis/216-where-arrows-businessweek-charts.html

Be sure to ask any questions you have, there are nearly 1200 of us here that are eager to help!

Welcome :)
