My name is Daniel and I live outside of Cleveland,Ohio...I am a triplet and a husband to my beautiful wife and father of a 16 month old and 4 week old. I work in the business department of the Cleveland Public Library as a library assistant. I am 30 years old and have loved stocks since I can remeber--the only problem was I never knew how to do research on businesses...One day I came across Rule #1 book at- suprise-the library and knew I had to read it. Long story short---I knew I could do this and was extremely excited..I have found a few companies that I love and currently paper trading a company while waiting for the others to give me buy signals. I can't tell enough people about Rule #1 but, unfortunatly for them, they really don't care. I, on the other hand, plan to make my first million.

Hi Everyone!

My name is Michelle and I live in Cheyenne, Wyoming, transplanted here 5 years ago from the Los Angeles area. What a culture shock! I'm 44, live with my boyfriend of 3 years, and work from home doing medical transcription.

I've been interested in the stock market for a long time, but safely (I mean foolishly) kept my money in a mutual fund with an expensive broker. My sister and brother-in-law went to a Get Motivated seminar a couple of months ago, told me about Phil and his book, and here I am!

I want to say thanks to Justin for this site and thanks to all who put in so much time on the Excel spreadsheet. It's been a huge timesaver! Of course, I AM doing my own homework too!

I'm Amy from the Bay Area, California. I'm a 36 year old stay at home mom to my 13 month old son. I was teaching English in Thailand for four years and met my husband there, got married and had the baby there in Bangkok. Returned to the US last August and we're both starting over from scratch, pretty much.

Hubby does translation and we both run an eBay business that's beginning to pick up. I'm going to continue teaching in the near future and a new business is in the works for me, as my husband's entreprenurial spirit has infected me.

Seeing how we are starting over, we have to make a lot of money in about a 20-30 year span in order to be able to retire.

I'm Allen in Manhattan. Originally from Hawaii, but my wife and I decided to move to NYC and enjoy travelling before we start a family. We're definitely enjoying it here, but we also miss Hawaii. I'm hoping that Rule 1 will help us to afford other adventures :-)

I've traded/invested in the stock market since my college yrs through the dot.com bubble, and only after I read Rule 1 did I come to understand fundamental analysis of companies and also a bit of technical analysis. My stock picks then were very random, but not any more and that's the most important thing for me. I UNDERSTAND!

Currently, I'm an IT consultant developing a procurement system for NYC Small Business Services. I enjoy an active life (triathlons, marathons, etc), but also love downtime reading and looking for Rule 1 companies.

I'm a 36 year old SAP Consultant from Houston. I'm always reading different books to on success, leadership and finances and Rule1 really hit home with its logical approach.

I have been trading in the stock market for 18 years with no specific strategy as sometimes I would take tips from a friend, other times read a article on a company and other times just pick a company that seemed to running upwards. Needless to say this strategy has not been successful and I have lost more money than I have put in over time.

My first buy (ASVI) with the Rule1 approach is up 15.2% and I am not sure to chalk it up to luck or skill though I do know that following Phil's rules makes sure at a minimum you understand the business, the numbers, management and watch the charts.

I think this website is great and the excel spreadsheets keep getting better and better.

I'm 34 years old, married, with two kids (3 years and 8 months, respectively), two dogs, and two cats.

Most of our investing has been done through index funds (or the closest we could find to an index fund), currently split between three 401(k) plans, two pension plans, a Roth IRA, a traditional IRA, and a non-retirement Ameritrade account (which has mainly been holding only two stocks, no big deal).

I dabbled in stocks in 1999 or so; watched some of my picks do quite well... others... eh, not so well. Along came a new job, a move, and the first kid, so active investing took a backseat until now.

My plan is to wait for the sell signals on the two stocks I'm holding in Ameritrade, then move that cash into an Ameritrade Roth IRA and begin looking at other securities. And then comes world domination.

Or maybe just some decent returns.

I am 39, married w 2 kids, 8 and 11. I am a Group Rep (sell non medical employee benefits through insurance brokers). I have always been very interested in investing, but most of my investing has been through mutual funds or just taking long shots on stocks (and losing most of the time). I was very skeptical when I saw the book, but it really makes a lot of sense to me as I tend to believe in value investing. Really like the forum and I hope we can all make some $$. Thanks to Justin for putting this together.

Hi fellow R#1 investors. My name is Pete, from Victoria BC Canada. I am a software developer by profession, and both lucky to love my work and the local high-tech company I work for. I have been interested in investing for a long time. At present, I am focusing on options trading (mainly covered calls and covered puts) and I see that my R#1 investing will definitely complement the options part of my portfolio.

I am fortunate to have heard Phil speak at a conference in Victoria in 2004. At the time, I had been searching for a investment methodology that was both technical and fundamental in nature. About a half-hour into Phil's talk I realized that R#1 was what I was looking for. As soon as the R#1 book was out, I bought it and have read it cover-to-cover several times. One of my hobbies is to build tools for the analysis and reporting of my investment interests. Most of my tools are Excel/VBA apps for charting & reports, and Oracle (10gP) or Access for data storage and processing. I am convinced that one doesn't need to pay $$$ for expensive tools when there are so many free sites, and free data, available. I look forward to meeting other R#1 investors in the Rule One Forum. If you see PWN in the chat room, pls say hi.

I am 49, and with my husband and 2 kids (one just graduated from college, the other graduating in December) live on the east coast of Florida. I am a consultant (financial management and space industry related) with a large, Beltway-based firm. We're hoping to not have to work much past 60.

We have been investing--through mutual funds, we didn't know better--for about 25 years, and like nearly everyone else lost a lot a few years ago. I joined an investment club and learned a lot, then opened my own trading account about 18 months ago. I listen to Cramer nearly every night (great stock tips and knowledge, and you learn to mentally turn down the volume), read IBD, and subscribe to GorillaTrades, but have still been doing hit and miss--I don't have the confidence I need to buy and sell at the right points. My brother bought me a copy of Phil Town's book but before he could ship it, I checked it out from the library and read it in a day. Looking forward to now putting the information from Phil's book to work in my own portfolio. Have already learned several things from reading the postings, and look forward to hearing more from everyone. 8)
