Question Hello and a question about Yahoo Charts

Hi everyone. I've been reading the ROIC posts for the past two weeks, and I want to thank everyone for all of your informative and helpful posts.

I have been a rock musician for the last 15 years, and I am starting from scratch with investing. My music career is winding down, and I would like to teach elementary school in order to give back to my community. I am concerned about surviving on a teacher's salary, so I am hoping to use investments to help grow my savings.

My current question concerns Yahoo Charts. I have been paper trading and getting comfortable with MSN Charts, but unfortunately MSN does not offer a 30 day MA, which Phil Town recommends for beginners like myself. I would like to make the switch to Yahoo Charts (which does offer a 30 day MA), but I have noticed that my Yahoo Charts, on a 3 month setting, do not show information for the current day. Any suggestions?

Current day data does not usually show up until after market close, and usually a few hours after that. I've sent a message to the Yahoo! team, and I encourage you to do that as well.

Krypticide, I sent an email to Yahoo! asking them to modify their charts to show the current day.

Don't think so. The PHP routine just gives you a collection of the standard charts that are available from Business Week Online.

Recovering trader

Hi, my name is Terrance and I'm a Rule #1 violater. I've recently discovered the Rule #1 strategy and will hopefully use it to recover from bad investing decisions. I am guilty of stock speculation, following the trend, buying based on rumor and conjecture, buying with little or no knowledge of a company, talking myself into holding stocks because of the "if I hold it I haven't really lost anything" mentality, and chasing IPOs. I'm hoping this community will be able to help me with my past failures as I evaluate what's left of my portfolio in search of 4M stocks.
