Hello from Tennessee

Hi everyone,

I just finished reading the book "Rule #1" about two months ago and wanted to give it a try. However, as many on this forum might have already experienced, searching a real Rule #1 company with a good entry point (i.e., MOS price) is really difficult, especially in the market of the last two months.

Hopefully, along with other benefits, I can get some company/stock ideas from this community.

By the way, can any Investools users comment on the program? Is it really worth a couple of grands? Thanks.

Welcome to the community. I think you will find a lot of answers to your questions on this forum. There are quite a few discussions regarding finding companies. And, you can look through the homework examples to see what others have already researched. As for Investools, there has been a lot of discussion regarding their pros and cons. Here are a few threads you can look at:

Good luck!!!

Hello from Florida (Go Gators!!!)

I have been reading articles from this site for some time and there's a lot of
very informative info. I am a Cramer fan also who believes in fundamentals,
also. I have had my crosshairs on (infy) for some time with some nice gains
and I see Satyam with blowaway mos price. Just would like some take on it.

Thanks a lot

Pat,

Thank you very much for your kind words and all of your answers to my questions. The links about Investools are especially helpful in my consideration of getting it. The $995 price tag sounds very attractive as it is 50% "discount" off what I was quoted (~$2000) and could be a good MOS price .

Good luck to you too.

Jason

Welcome Gator from a Cornhusker. You will find lots of information on this forum. If you would like more information on INFY & SAY use the search engine above. These companies have been discussed in detail on this web-site. Personally INFY has done very well for me papertrading. I purchased it on June 29th and since then have made 39.91%. I wish I could say the same for my other trades. Ha, ha.

Welcome! I am not an Investools user, for several reasons.

1) I more or less just got started, and paying for these extras tools is overkill. That's like springing for a fancy tennis racquet when you're first learning how to play. It's a waste.
2) I don't have enough of a money base. $2000 is already ~5% of my principal base! That's going to cut into my gains big time!

Remember, tools are only worth it if they really help you.

Hi K,
sure.... on page 104 there is at GM Sales table showing increasing sales numbers between 1995 ($164) and 2004 ($194) yet on page 105 Phil ran the the numbers for this period and he comes up with a -4% growth.
I Calculate approx a +2% growth for GM sales during that period. I even used Phil's web calculators to check it. There are a other mistakes like this that I cant contribute only to publishing typos. A few too many in my humble opinion. So I'd like to think my calcs are off but after reviewing several times I believe the book is wrong.....UNLESS...lol...I really missed the boat somewhere....lol

On page 108 these same numbers and mistakes are shown in the GM table.

Oh well, not really a biggie but, just in case I'm wrong... I'd surely like to know how,why , etc so I dont carry a false knowledge forward.

Thanks for writing Krypticide,
peace
