Hello, I am new to investing!

My 13 year old son wants to start, and I am getting the bug to do this on my own. I got burned before using brokers but I am read the Rule #1 book and getting excited to re learn as well as help my son learn this great way of investing.

I hope you dont mind if I ask the dumb question every once in a while?
I look forward to conversing with all of you.

Nolan

Re: newbie to the world of investing

I have opened an account at TradeKing, but have not put any money in yet. The info there is OK, the trade price is right ($4.99). I am still in the papertrading stages at this point. Would love to know others experience with them.

First like to say thanks for the great site. I can forsee many hours reading through the posts here. I am new to investing but have read Phil Towns book and I must say that the calculations are going to be a little difficult at first. I think you guys will help get me over that hump. Thanks again

Oh one last thing on the bite-sized sections - You might find some use in this thread although it's due for an update. http://www.roicommunity.com/forum/se...-approach.html

Do not give up! Keep doing them & they will get much more easy. At some points it looks like smoke & mirrors. Then it clicks. Good investing!

Re: Newbie from Corpus Christi

Hello Jay, and welcome to our Community!! Yep lots of reading to do, but at least you recognize that. You'll be in a state of "information overload" for a considerable amount of time before things start making sense enough to pull the trigger. As far as the calculators go, you might refer to the tutorial we just put up at: http://www.roicommunity.com/forum/au...functions.html

This should take a lot of the guess work out of the spreadsheet's basic functions and behavior.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions you have along the way!

Thumbs up First time investor

Hi, I am from Vancouver Canada and taking in all that I can from you guys before I put my hard earned money into the market. You guys seem to have a good headstart on most other "investors that I have met"
