Re: Hi from Dallas

I live about 30 min away from Big Lake, in fact the state park is one of my accounts for pest control. So if you've stayed at the cabins or the hotel, I've been there :)

Not that's funny . . .

Cramer is good when he's calmed down. Trouble is, he only calm for 1.53 minutes of an hour long show.

When he's on, even my DOG looks at him like he's crazy.

Hi from Austin

I read the book a few months ago, liked the book then went looking for the stocks that fits the criterias of rule#1, but couldn't find it at that time and went on until I find this forum a few days ago. I am planning to be more serious and do better investments in the future. I figure this is a good place to learn and practice.

Re: Hi from Austin

Gunnski,

Thanks. I will study them using the new MOS excel sheet I downloaded from Pat.

I expect the market will get into a correction mode soon, maybe a good time to start buying in a few weeks.

Re: Hello from Minneapolis, MN

Dear Ron and Randy.

Thank you for the warm welcome. I always smile when I get asked about my email handle! <G> I was on the NAIC boards for several years, only as garbagecop, when one day NAIC featured me in an article in Better Investing Magazine. People had conjured up a vision of a balding greaser with a pot belly and a cigar. But lo and behold, I was a girl! That sparked quite an uproar on the boards! We had great fun back then.

The short story is that I'm a hauling contract negotiator, specializing in industrial facilities, such as solid and hazardous waste, industrial recycling, and other industrial services. Back in 1994 when I first signed up for email and needed a name, I was embroiled in a big battle with a local BFI district manager. I took the name garbagecop just to aggitate him. Well, it worked! But the name stuck. When I tried to change it this summer, I gave the NAIC community a crack at choosing a new handle for me. They adamently refused! So here I am. <G>

Regarding NAIC, I'm a chapter director and instructor, and I was one of the first beta testers for the stockcentral.com website. The boys at IClub have worked hard to pull away from the now bruised and battered NAIC, and most of us couldn't be happier. I teach the SSG and other components of the software, but I find they concentrate on the "rear view mirror". Ours is a forward-looking market, and it's important that we have that component in our arsenal, as well. For that, Mark Robertson's new website, Manifest Investing - Home is excellent. He was one of the original whistle blowers at NAIC. His approach to George Nicholson's original concepts (which of course came from Graham and Dodd) is excellent, and his community is growing. IClub, Manifest and Bivio have all banned together to pick up the slack created by NAIC and the investigations of fraud, and to support the members of the community. They all should be commended for their good works.

There ya go!

So would you care to give me some pointers as to where to start here? I have taken Justin's advice and I am reading every post on these boards.

I'm guessing that I need to devise a list of stocks that meet the criteria first. I get that part since I understand the fundamental concepts. I should use the ROIC spreadsheet for that, right? Next, I would pick a stock or two frm that list and start researching the qualitiative piece, the 3rd M.

I've looked at BusinessWeek and Stockcharts, as well as Yahoo and MSN, and I'm open as to which one this community would recommend. I'm not quite sure how to set them up or how to read them. A little private instruction would be appreciated there.

Am I on the right track?

Thanks much,

Lynn O.
