God, you can't go anywhere eh?
Nice to hear from you lads.
Jason thanks for the info, I think I'll pass on it, for a while anyway. It's not like I can avail of the workshop either.

Re: Hello from Ireland

If I can just chip in there, I looked hard at all the Irish stockbrokers and they were a rip-off. I settled for etrade as well. In the meantime I've talked to a chap from TICN. It's an investor's club network. He said that using their clout they are able to set up accounts for really reasonable rates. They also offer technical analysis tuition amongst other services. They have several branches around Ireland. You could check them out at Welcome to TICN - The Investment Club Network!. I called him back to set up an appointment but he hant responded yet. The organization seems to be worldwide. The guy I talked to was Kevin.

New in Amarillo

Just started. Great website. Anyone else from Amarillo?

Also, I've tried to register to Phil Town's site but can't get a confirmation e-mail back. I've e-mailed the site twice, but no response so far. I need access to those calculators. I'm running out of erasers. Any ideas?

Re: New in Amarillo

Hello and welcome!

Not sure what would be going on at Phil's site, but if you are looking for a faster method of MOS calculation you might be interested in our Automatic Margin of Safety Calculator. This is a spreadsheet designed for Microsoft Excel, and it will automatically retrieves the "Big Five Numbers" from MSN Money. It then calculates an appropriate MOS price based on that historical data - it's every bit as cool as you'd want it to be :)

Give that a shot and let us know how it works out for you -

See you on the boards!

Re: Hello from Ireland

I am using etrade basically because they were the only brokerage that I could get an account with that were not irish based (irish brokers seriously take the piss regarding commission etc). Do you guys know much regarding tax implications for irish residents? I really don't know anything, any advice or info would be appreciated. I am not to keen on paying tax on money that I have had already paid tax on.

Re: Hello from Ireland

jasonok, are you living in the US because the tradeking website says that you can only open an account with them if you are a US citizen and are living in the US.

Re: Hello from Ireland

hi mick my job requires alot of travel i have an address in US but i am home for the Xmas. I spend alot of time back and forward between the two. I hope to finish with the travel real soon.
I like TradeKing, i havent seen a cheaper one online also their interface is easy to use and their live online is very helpful..also their screener for stocks is easy and gives good starter positions for Rule 1 stocks not perfect but a starter...
I was with Davy Stockbrokers in Ireland ... but they were pure rip off..also have a AIB trade account and that is a joke with their costs..their interface is a joke as for getting data on Irish companies to determine the MOS i found it almost impossible...I would love to apply Rule 1 to the Irish Stock Market but we would have to go back to the days of Warren Buffet when he basically study all the numbers off paper. But getting the numbers off paper from Irish companies could be a challenge and by the time you get the MOS all worked out you might of miss the boat.
