New guy from Monterey, CA

Hi everyone,

Sure looks like Phil Town is turning into an the proverbial snowball picking up converts as he rolls down the hill. I've read the book twice and am on my third go round. Absolutely makes sense.

I'm a CPA and recently received my securities licenses. As any good professional should do I have researched the different investment styles quite heavily the past year and became convinced the Graham/Buffett model to be the best of all worlds. Phil Town has simply put it into words easily understood with some how-to-do-it thrown in.

I look forward to learning from this forum.

Welcome from Fresno, CA. I was at a death penalty seminar over the weekend at the convention center in your fine City. Wow, what a great place to live!

Even Basic Training was fun at Ft. Ord, in the day.

New guy from Connecticut

Hello all,

1st time investor and new fan of Rule #1. Read the book through, thanks to the advice of a friend and subscriber to Rule #1, and am currently working on my 2nd read. I agree with much of what is said in the book and am currently working on putting it into practice with some big time fake money, yipee. Still working on getting over the Chicago Bears loss in the super bowl, so I am not ready to invest emotionally with real money, yet. : )

Just wanted to thank you all in advance for the help and explainations for a slow guy such as myself. I look forward to the discussions and advice from all points of view and perhaps providing a little insight myself from time to time.

Thanks and good luck investing all.

Good to hear from you. I live in Mt. Lebanon. Where do you live? Whenever you want to get together for coffee and share notes it would be OK with me. Any weekday morning from 8am till 10am, and Saturday afternoons.

Greeting from So. California

Hi,
I found out about this web site through Jim Cramer's MadMoney forum about 2 weeks ago. That's how I found out about Phil's book and his investment method. I'm so happy that there are still many people out there still embrace the investment ideas adopted by Ben Graham and Warren Buffet. I'm also deeply appreciated the people who were involved in developing the MOS spreadsheet. It is one of the most valuable investment tool available.

Mark newbie from minnesota

I am new to the investing in the stock market. I just finished the Rule #1 book and am trying to find some stocks that fit the rule. Is there any place you can go to for suggestions on the best stocks to look at? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Mark

Welcome Mark,

You have come to the right place. Check out the Homework Examples Archive and General Discussion Archives here. That should get you started.
