Re: Hello and welcome to our community!

Hi everyone. Name is Max, 28 and I just finished reading Phil's book for the 3rd time. Started to look for wonderful companies this week. So far I've found grmn and UTX.

Got my big five calculation ok but by comparaing with some numbers i see in threads here it seems like my sticker and mos calculations need some work.
Is Justin's excel mos calaculator still current and accurate ? I plan on using it to correct myself.

I am eager to get on the market...but it seems I've got lots of practice to do.

Re: Hello and welcome to our community!

Hello to the community! I am a retired person with very little experience at investing. I desire to learn more, and perhaps do some investing thru my on-line investing account. I am reading about various investing tools and analysis techniques. Can anyone tell me if the MOS calculator works on Windows 98? I only have access thru dial-up, at 24 Kbps.

Re: Hello and welcome to our community!

I am Art, retired from NWA in the Twin Cities.

Used ScottradeElite for years. Now trying to learn StrategyDesk. Finding it uses too much bandwidth and kills hughes.net satellite connection after a days use, and dont know what to do about that.

I'm also having problems with screener. I enter my formula & thought the screener was to only show the symbol 'on the day' the conditions were met. But instead, my entire list shows up. Hoping someone might be able to give me some advice here.

Great site. Hope to become an attribute here eventually.

Re: Hello and welcome to our community!

Hello - I am from Westchester, NY and am just in the process of reading the book. So far it looks very promising. Does it really work if you do the numbers as he indicates - can it be that straightforward? do you guys make money?

I am excited to start - hopefully i can contribute ( so far i am looking at railroad industry - I think its a great sector!)

Re: Hello and welcome to our community!

Hello all you forum members. I am so excited to have stubbled across this website. Thanks Justin!! I am an orthodontist in Washington, and started reading Phils book just to educate myself about individual trading. I have become disillusioned with the fund manager style of trading and was eager to learn how to do it on my own. I loved Phils book, in fact I have read through it twice and started it agian. I started to do some homework to begin finding some good businesses but sort of ran into a road block. Maybe some of you have experienced the same thing. I have had a difficult time finding the data (big 5) going back 10 years. Also I have been confused by the differences in terminology used. Often the terms are different than those used in Phil's book. Can some one give me a tip on the best way to do the research?? Even a pay-site is fine if it gives me what I need. Any help would be very appreciated. I cant wait to learn more. I am only afraid that I am going to miss a great opportunity with the market being the way that it is right now.
