I am looking to use a 40% off coupon from Borders and there are several books in my wish list I'm considering - mainly because they are pricey. Has anyone read/used any of the below books?

Valuation: Measuring and Managing the Value of Companies, Fourth Edition

Security Analysis on Wall Street: A Comprehensive Guide to Today's Valuation Methods, Univ. Edition

Distressed Debt Analysis: Strategies for Speculative Investors

Economics of Strategy

A Contrarian Strategy for Growth Stock Investing: Theoretical Foundations and Empirical Evidence

I feel my weak point is in valuing a company, which is why the two valuation books are at the top of the list followed by the Distressed Debt Analysis book.

Any thoughts?

If you are looking for books on valuation you should try Damodaran on valuation-2nd edition. You can visit his web site and download the beta version of this book. He also provide tons of valuation spreadsheets on his web sites. I'm sorry that I'm not able to give you recommendation on those you books you mentioned because I haven't read any of them but the 2nd one souds very intriguing.

I found Streetsmart Guide to Valuing a Stock very useful. Using the book, I was able to build a spreadsheet duplicating the authors' model. Very good guide to how a Free Cash Flow valuation works. This came in very handy for working with and building other valuation models.

A few months back, I reserved my library's copy of this book. Then I read a few reviews, panning it (I forget the specific objections). So I cancelled. I just reserved it again; time to decide for myself.
