New Guy: looking for insight on Justins MOS calc/NVDA
Hi,
First, I really like this site, and have enjoyed using Justin's MOS calculator. Do most people use this calculator to speed up searches then double check their hits manually? I'm still new to rule1 investing, but many of my manual numbers don't match the calculator...i'm sure that's because i'm a newbie. at any rate, in the case of Nvidia (NVDA), it didn't really matter because both calculations say buy. according to justin's calculator (i use his because im not yet confident in posting my very amatuer calculations): current market: $24.70 sticker: $69.72 mos: $34.84 I'm a techy guy, use/love Nvidia products and would love to own this company as if it were my own. I think graphics processing is a huge market and it's dominated by NVDA. The CEO is also one of the co-founders and seems to be passionate and have a grand vision for the future of Nvidia. I wasn't blown away by the letter to share-holders but i've found most of those to be full of buzz-words and blah blah blah speak for the most part. would anyone like to weigh in on their thoughts as it pertains ONLY to rule1 investing? thank you and i look forward to many interesting topics :) ps. i don't use investools, just msn, justin's calculator, rule1 calculators, and google. |

Re: New Guy: looking for insight on Justins MOS calc/NVDA
Hi Suke:
I'm also interested in NVDA. However, there may be slides in their earnings in the near future as they seemed to be facing increased competition this year. Here's what I discovered so far: NVDA's new products are aimed at the high end market with graphics processors from $400-600. However, AMD is releasing cheaper products aimed at the larger middle market. This may decrease their profits earned from the middle market majority. Also, Intel plans to launch their new product, the Larrabee, later this year, which is an integrated graphics chip that combines the CPU and GPU. This product supposedly performs on the same level as some of NVDA's high performance chips. On the other hand, NVDA has been looking into new markets. In particular, graphic cards for notebooks and hand-held devices. This will eventually be in competition with Apple and its IPhone. Anyway, despite all this, if you believe NVDA can hold its own, then invest away. =) |
