I may be wrong, but it is currently trading ABOVE sticker price, which is 64.07 according to my calculations. So MOS would be $32.03. What did you buy it for? Another thing . . . Does it worry you that John and Patricia Stryker have sold off about $50mil of their shrares in the company between 11/07 and now? Let me know what you think.

I came up with a MOS=66. And no, their stock sales don't worry me. They've been so steady and predictable. If they were sudden, I might.

I bought at 63.52, set a trailing stop at 7%. Yesterday they announced double digit growth, which I thought would be a good thing. Mr Market dumped the stock, triggering my sell order. Sold at 64.15 after closing at 68.41. I'm guessing all the tools will say sell at end of day. Kind of unexpected. Any thoughts anyone?

WJ,

I feel your pain. What the heck happened? Anyone can armchair quarterback. I am not doing this, but I did some snoping around. Maybe it will help. This is certainly not to find fault.

First, great job on using a protective stop.

I checked MSN & S&P Reports. All glowing reports, ****'s out of *****'s , per S&P. Low risk & high return on SYK. MSN ranked 9 out of 10. Wow, looks pretty safe!

I got buy signals on 7/8/08, @ $61.81. Nice entry point, per my tools.

No negative news. So what went wrong?

R-1 sell tools flashed two sell signals, just prior to the drop, MA(10) & Stoch., MACD lagged. Not surprising. Stochastics, extremly overbought and above 80. Negative.

Stock Market Scanning, Online Video Training for Traders and Technical Analysis of Stocks at Stockscores.com, flashed negative numbers, actually very suspicious numbers. Check it out for free. Click on get the StockScores. Put your symbol in.

Notice the huge spike in Vol. That was the big kids. They know/knew something. RSI heading south. Negative.

Lets see what comes out in the news near term.

The whole thing for me, is this was a Stage 3 stock going into Stage 4. Per, Stan Weinstein's great book. Never buy in Stage 3 or 4, period.

Following that advice this stock should not have been entered into.

Hope that helps a tad!

Please click on chart below: Stage 4 example:

Thanks. Not really sure what the stage 3 & 4 stuff means though. Is this a similar strategy or completely different one to "Rule 1?"
