Current Rule 1 Worthy Scan Results

I'd like to start a new thread for anyone with interesting , Rule #1 worthy scan results. I know most of us are using the great scanners on MSN , and I've recently started using the scanners on Prophet.net - which are awesome - but still take alot of work afterwards.

I am putting my results thru one further step - comparing them to the indices for the last 2 months, 6 months , 2 years and 5 years. So I am looking for those Rule #1 stocks that have outperformed the markets - and WE HOPE will continue to outperform the markets. I want to be ready when they pop with 1-1-1. a perfect 1-1-1- is really hard to find - they don't show up every day - and to find Rule #1 worthy 1-1-1 's takes a lot of work . But we've got the technology ( thanks MOS Machine Team ) and we've got the framework ( thanks Phil ) . We just gotta do the digging !

this will be a homework list only - I love looking at the charts . I like digging into the fundies a little less. so for anyone who wants to critique the fundies on thse - feel free !

today I am looking for those stocks that are showing good movement - in spite of the fact that the $VIX has increased from 9.90 - 10.13 - a 2.32 % move - huge for the $ VIX. I am STUDYING today - looking for stocks for when the $VIX stops trying to convince us that the mkt is heading down .

Hopefully we can populate the Watch Lists with plenty of 3 G potential !

Today's MSN Rule # 1 Scan with Institutional Increase

tck - possible ; EPS falling a bit
col - nope
vsea- overpriced
zigo- not enough growth
abx - doesn't pass Rule #1 check
ezem - strike out
trp - also NG / no go

so = total strike out so far on fundies alone

Re: Current Rule 1 Worthy Scan Results

have done several more on Prophet Scan - not coming up with any winners today . I'm still scanning - still combing thru lists - not finding winners that meet our criteria

S&P 5 star with positive MACD histogram today -

IACI - beautiful chart , beats the mkt - but not Rule 1 worthy

Exchanges: NYSE
Last Price is at least 15.00
Average Volume is at least 50,000 shares
S&P Star Rating is between 5 and 5 5-Year Growth % is at least 75
MACD Histogram is positive

CAL - this is a 5 star ??- UGH !
ELX - possible ; good chart - beats the mkt
ET- deserves more study - beats the mkt
MU - a 5 star ??? what are they drinking over there ???
PRU - pretty spotty
RHI - even massaging the #s - still low
SFY - not even close
TRN - EPS - no , sales no
TXN - overpriced and doesn't beat the mkt
WSH - overpriced and does not beat the mkt

2 possibles deserving of more study :

ELX
ET

Re: Current Rule 1 Worthy Scan Results

How about D.R. Horton (DHI). Homebuilders-3 greens last week. Fundamentally pretty sound. If you eliminate last yrs. EPS, they have increased every year. BVPS went up, Sales went up, PE is really low-sells about 6-7x's eps rate.
Build modestly priced homes starting about 90 grand. Family owned and very employee friendly. Stock tumble about 45-50% during housing bust but #'s really don't reflect that--at least what I can see.
I don't know if that is what you are looking for or not.

Re: Current Rule 1 Worthy Scan Results

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Thanks for all of your help and guidance on the board!

I ran a R-1 Power Scan on MSN. I printed out 150 of the best. Here are some ideas.

ESI: Great business needs a deep breath. Its on my Watch List.

GGG: Beautiful chart. Just went 3G's. Not a R-1 for me at this time.

HANS: Strong-close watch on my list. Nice business. Just went 3-G's with a
10DMA. I have MOS at $7.48, 20% Growth, P/E 14.37.

UPL: I really like this. MOS $84.55. Current $50.98. 2 G's with 10DMA, 1 G w/ 30DMA. It looks like the big kids are getting in. Yes, problems with ESP & Cash Flow. Needs some research.

Re: Current Rule 1 Worthy Scan Results

I took a quick look at ELX & ET. Wow, I am probably wrong but I would not even consider them R-1 businesses ...at least right now. Just on ROIC & Equity numbers I would move on. The chart on ELX appears to indicate it is over bought right now. It needs to take a break.

I cannot see our tools being that far off. But, when ever I see a negative ROIC I move to the next business.

Any input will be greatly apprecaited.
