My portfolio
Ok Gunnski, you wanted more action, here's my portfolio. I encourage anybody who's interested to share theirs. Each of these stocks takes up roughly 10% of my total account. I'm fully invested right now.
AAPL CTRP CTSH DRYS FCX FTI GTI NE RIMM WMT For the most part, I screened for growth stocks and traded them technically (mostly trendlines). Overall so far - I've only lost money on CTRP and WMT (and CTSH from the past). |

Re: My portfolio
Currently I have:
USB 20% of portfolio (in at 33.50 on Friday) TASR 8% of portfolio (in at 7.50 recently) The rest is sitting in cash while I research more companies. I'm seriously considering UNH for a 30% position at the current price of 32.70 |

Re: My portfolio
Nice Tom! Way to step up to the plate.
I have plenty of positions & most are making money right now. I just want a more focused effort, especially for the new people. Fresh idea(s) to explore, examine & help with different ways to make profitable investments. If you are hell bent on R-1 investing is only the way & the truth, you are in for a rude awakining. People write books to sell books. Period. I get tired of the snipers & lurkers that chum the board and do not participate, positely or even on the negative side. Let's all learn together! It is not rocket science. Post something. This board is way over due, as it has been very dead, lately. |

Re: My portfolio
I have a T.A. play with absolutely no fundamentals. Risky Portfolio. Great learning experience. Check out the chart.
XRM: I began watching this on 12/26/07, @ around $$6.22 per share. It pooped up on a scan. It slide downward. It gapped down hard, mid March 2008. I liked it even more (news on the Co. poss. going BK.). I jumped in on Apr. 7 2008. Looked like a serious bottom- nice entry point and the volumn had shaken out the sellers. It now has now filled the gap, great vol., crossed the MA(150), a big plus. I look for a retrace, then another move up. This one has whip marks all over it. I'll continue to ride. For your own safety, please do not run the fundamental numbers! It looks like a Charles Manson crime scene. Perfect example, you can make money strictly on T.A. & solid entry points. Best of investing. |

Re: My portfolio
Now THAT is a gutsy play. I have to admit that I won't even touch a stock priced under $10.
And I certainly don't have the guts to touch a stock that just recently took a dive of about 73% in one day. It looks great since you got in. Wish you the best on this one. |

Re: My portfolio
This is what can happen in the "Small Cap" world! Big drops and big tops. They can "scare you out or wear you out". You need to be a smart investor & always use trailing stops!
That 73% dive was on bankruptcy news. Interesting, the buyers jumped back in....? |

Re: My portfolio
Im back in cash after riding up ACF and ESI.
Still holding GRMN. Waiting to get back in on CTSH, ESI, and ACF most likely. Also like HANS. I haven't touched a TA mentality yet but maybe after I have researched it more. In the meantime I stick to the Rule 1 as it hasn't burned me yet and I have had good gains the past year. |

Re: My portfolio
TASR looks to be crossing over a 3-month MACD, but I'm new to this, having only recently moved my IRA from the clutches of Primerica to a self-directed Scottrade account after reading Rule #1. My analysis has been a blend of Rule #1, the three tools (some TA I guess), and reading commentary from Juback's Journal.
I picked USB for value and dividend. And it seems like one of the only financials not to have been over-exposed to bad loans, but who knows- maybe that report will come out tomorrow?! Sorry if I posted off-topic. I saw you posting your portfolio, and Gunnski's call for more input, so I thought I'd share my positions too. FWIW, I've been scanning the charts and looking for good entry points, but also researching fundamentals and reading commentary so that I can stomach a downturn too, confident that the position is reasonably sound. So far I'm up almost 2% in less than a month at this. The trailing stop is a very nice tool for locking-in gains- no matter how small. |
