Investors Business Daily

Has anyone used Investors Business Daily to find potential stocks? Has anyone ever used IBD as Bill Oneil advocates? I work in the Cleveland Public Library and we subscribe to IBD. It has a WEALTH of information in it and I was wondering if anyone had success using his paper and system.

If anyone has please send me a message or respond here.

Thanks

Are you referring to the electronic tools that one can choose to subscribe to or just the paper? I used IBD for a long time but not the electronic tools on the website.

Just the paper edition. We have a few databases we subscribe to that has financial information. One is Mergent Online. Which gives a ton of information.

have you had success with IBD?

Re: Investors Business Daily

I started out with William J. O'Neil. I have read all of his books. Used IBD home delivery and online. Nothing bad to say. He looks hard at Relative Strength. He likes chart patterns like "Cup w/ Handle".

I have a MSN Power Scan that mines for IBD top ranked type stocks if anyone is interested. It works well.

I suggest going to your local library on Fridays. Copy the Top IDB 100. Nice way to pan for contenders...cheap!

Re: Investors Business Daily

I started to read his book, then put it away midway. It was not for me.

This approach, although it could work, is far too technical for my likeing. I was not willing to spend the time required to analyse chart patterns and ride the waves (or drown).

I prefer the good old fashioned 'buy the business as a business' approach. It makes a lot of sense to me :)
