After reading Town's R#1 three times now, I know that there were only 3 ways to REALLY utilize his Buffet-esque methods:
1) Kidnap Buffett, remove his brain, and transplant it into my own head (or) 2) Spend every waking hour of the day, plus 4 sleeping hours, on my computer looking up stock information and analyzing their MOS and quality (or) 3) Identify and develop a TEAM of like-minded people who are ready to do their share to make this system truly work Chances are that you're a little like me - a busy life, a family, responsibilities, and not enough time to scour the web looking for great Rule #1 companies. ***This forum, I believe, is the best place to find a core group of 10-20 people who truly are committed to working as a team to FIND, EVALUATE, and DISCUSS companies that are truly potential RULE #1 companies.*** While some might say that this entire forum is full of these people, I'm not really buying it. I've been seeing too many people buying into speculative stocks... tossing around the idea of buying companies that are only crapshoots... nowhere close to true Rule 1 companies. According to the throngs of people posting, there seem to be 50-100 companies that are Rule 1 companies - which is NOT the case. If you're interested, reply in this post and we can take the matter further. No freeloaders... no bystanders... no loitering. Just the collective work and analysis of 10-20 committed individuals to find 2-5 REAL Rule 1 companies by the end of August. |

Re: Teamwork
I'd certainly be interested. Yes, I agree many people on here merely speculate. I think the problem is that many people just have a hard time finding Rule1 stocks, so they eventually just start speculating again. The market has been very bullish, up until last week, so many stocks have been over or rightly valued. I was excited to see the market take a hit, as this means bargains may start to become available.
I am a premium member at Morningstar.com and use their premium stock screener to search out Rule1 stocks. I have built a custom query that returns only companies that are, or are close to being Rule1 companies. This atleast helps wittle through the mass of mess up companies. I'd be glad to share this information with the 'team'. The last problem is, these boards are kinda dead. Only seems to be about 5 new posts a day, and the book has been out for a year and a half. Anywayz, I'd be happy to be apart of it. |

Re: Teamwork
Maverick - does Morninstar have a stock screen for searching for companies trading at a discount to fair value? Say a screen that allows you to search for companies trading at 50% to Fair Value.......
