Jim Cramer / Phil Town Feud ??

Does anyone know the details to Jim Cramer's distaste for Phil Town?
On Jim's show "Mad Money" the floor is marked with many X's made of tape with the names of the guests written on them to show where they stood when they were on the show. Earlier this month Jim Cramer was talking about a previous guest when he went searching on the floor for that guests name among many when he came across Phil Town's name and then said something to the effect, "Phil Town! What the heck is he still doing here, he needs to go!".
Then this week he was doing the same visual search of a previous guests name when he stated "Thank heavens they got rid of that Phil Town !".
Can anyone shed some light? I thought they were supportive of each other. Thanks.

Wouldn't be suprised. They both mislead the public. One of them abuse the teachings of Warren Buffett, and the other said Buffett had lost his touch, because he didn't join the internet bubble. You'd probably would do much better if you stayed a long way from both Town and Cramer. Both of them are salesmen.

Re: Jim Cramer / Phil Town Feud ??

Back in 2000, the market topped in March, but Cramer was a screaming bull into the fall. Then, about 1500 NASDAQ points down, he reminded everyone that if they followed his advice, they would have escaped the downturn. The real problem was that he believed it.

More recently, there was this:

YouTube - Rick Santelli Takes Down Jim Cramer

Cramer is smart, but he's a phony and he's dangerous. Ask yourself how he (or anyone) can be an expert on 8000 stocks plus know exactly where the market is going. The little pecker is ugly, has a horrible voice, and his eyes are going to pop out of his head any day.

As for Phil Town, he's just another 90s bull market expert. I did pretty well in the market in the 90s, too, mostly by doing nothing. Maybe there's a book in that. I'm more interested in the ideas of someone who has ridden out 3, 4 or 5 bear markets.

Great vedeo, I couldn't stop laghing. Cramer is a clown and a joke. But I have to say Erin Burnett is a fine looking lady

If you listen to that sort of advice then its your own bloody fault. Priceless, thanks for the entertaining link.

What I found especially funny is that Cramer is actually about a foot shorter than Burnett. Bartiromo is a tall drink of water, too (oh, those lips). Maybe there are reasons to watch CNBC after all.

Re: Jim Cramer / Phil Town Feud ??

Since Cramer provides a marketing quote that appears on the cover of Phil's book, that means he had to provide written permission to Crown Publishers (the publisher of Phil's book) to allow that to happen.

But I've seen marketing quotes from Cramer on the covers of a lot of financial books because like him or hate him, he is well known by the general public of Average Joe investors (i.e., his "endorsement" sells books). This "feud" may also be a marketing ploy by Cramer to maintain his name awareness with the public (the theory being that all publicity for a celebrity whether good or bad is ultimately good for that celebrity's rating and Cramer tends to prefer controversy to get attention).

Personally, I believe Phil brings value investing into the Internet age of the 21st century (which Phil admits to trying to do in his book). One can debate whether he got it perfectly right or not, but I believe Phil is walking his talk, so I'm confident his system as he describes it in his book works for him (which means I'm taking Rule #1 seriously as I study it and adapt it to my investing needs).

With regards to Cramer, I haven't read any of his books (although I believe Cramer knows his stuff and has decided to deliver his message using an "entertaining" rather than "educational" style). I also find myself going to TheStreet.com less and less as I understand Rule #1 more and more (on grounds the general financial media is often a waste of time and potentially misleading to the investing public).

Re: Jim Cramer / Phil Town Feud ??

When I want to invest long term (basically for my kids because I cant wait 20 years) I try to follow Buffet and Phil.

When I want to Swing trade and make a little fast cash I "go with Cramer"

When I want to gamble I play with the global pennystocks news letter and channeling stocks news letter....

Bottom line is that all three have a purpose (in my mind) and none of the three is a "be all end all" solution. All three methods have worked for me and all three have failed.

Bottom line is all of them are out to make money, be it from stocks or from your pocket book, I cant knock someone for that, I try not to look at any of them on a personal level. Plenty of people I don't like have made me money.....

Re: Jim Cramer / Phil Town Feud ??

I really appreciate everyone's responses.
But.....
I am looking for a regular watcher of "Mad Money" or someone else that knows the details of why Cramer would say the comments I describe in my original question. Why has their "relationship" gone sour.
Thanks again.
