Buying on Market 'Down' Days

Anyone else noticed how you can squeeze a good few % in value out of purchases by buying them on days when the market in general has declined.

Some times general market swings can mean the difference of buying something for six or seven % less so I always wait for market down days before I jump on.

Re: Buying on Market 'Down' Days

I'm still in learn mode and while I haven't ruled technical analysis in, I haven't ruled it out yet either. As a result, I've been following podcasts from AlphaTrends with the goal of learning about the market trend so that I can decide for myself whether I want to use technical analysis as part of my investing strategy.

These podcasts keep pointing out that the market's 10 day moving average is below its 20 day moving average, which in turn is below its 50 day moving average, which in turn is below its 200 day moving average. All of these moving averages are sloping downward also. In other words, we are in a bear market and stock prices are likely to become cheaper before they become more expensive in the months ahead (if these podcasts are telling the right story).

A wonderful 4M business becomes even more wonderful when it can be purchased at a lower price. I'm using this time to remain in cash as I research potentially wonderful businesses and evaluate the investing strategies I might want to use.

Sorry PI I wasnt referring to TA at all I was merely stating that I had noticed how you can lock in and etc few % by buying on a day when the general market has been in a decline.
